Babies
Babies are easily transported and are easy to amuse – you can spend a day at a museum with the baby in a stroller or a sling-bag. It is perhaps the only stage in life where you decide where to go and what to do, so take advantage of it while you can! Babies usually show interest wherever they go and offer a unique opportunity to mix with the locals.
The downside of a trip with a baby is that they need many things – diapers, changes of clothes, strollers- and they prefer a routine with their sleep, their eating hours and diaper changing.
However if you travel with the right equipment, if you have your wits about you and react appropriately to signs of fatigue, hunger and boredom of your baby, and if you do not forget to take your first aid kit with you, any problems that may arrive can be overcome with ease.
Older Children
Around the age of 4, traveling with children can be pure enjoyment. There are still some difficulties, and the children of this age get bored easily, but the upside is that they are old enough to understand more and show when they are impressed, while sharing their experiences with you.
They will inform you about the things that please them, and even the planning of the trip will become more of a group effort as you will have to consider the wishes of your children and at the same time keep them within the bounds of logic. |
Toddlers
Traveling with toddlers is definitely a challenge. All the energy and effort that they consume trying to do everything together, brings disappointment if and when they don’t manage everything at once.
You have to be extremely cautious as they tend to pick up various dirty objects, hug cats or even wonder off when they see something that draws their attention. They often have whims and are persistent in their preferences and dislikes.
The positive effect of traveling with toddlers is that they stimulate your interest in different things and give you the opportunity to see the world from another perspective. The correct choice of destination is a very important element when traveling with toddlers. Your better off choosing places where they can run freely during the day without being in danger. Furthermore, it would be wise to stay in accommodation where they can not cause too much damage to facilities.
Teenagers
Teenagers can enjoy themselves easier than younger children. They may probably like the same things as you and will definitely remember all they have experienced during their trip, and thus gain some educational benefit.
You will have more freedom at nights, as teenagers often go to sleep the same time as you do, or sometimes even later.
